Sort of, kind of

Sort of and kind of express a vague nature:
I'm kind of hungry. I'm a little bit hungry.
They sort of understood the question. They understood the question to a certain extent.

Note: In spoken English, especially in American English, kind of is contracted and pronounced as 'kinda' :
I'm kinda happy. I'm sort of happy, I'm quite happy.
