Definition

profound: deep and wise, containing great wisdom
adjective
In English, 'profound' is rarely used to describe notions of space or distance. A swimming pool is not 'profound', but 'deep'. On the other hand, we often talk about a 'profound' statement, or a 'profound difference'.
