Artículos indefinidos

Indefinite articles come before an unspecified person or thing:

unaunasuna amiga, unas casas a female friend, houses
ununosun perro, unos abrigos a dog, coats

After hay (of the verb haber used to say “there is/are”), only an indefinite article can be used:

Hay un restaurante peruano en ese barrio.

There is a Peruvian restaurant in that neighborhood.

Notes: Una changes to un in front of a feminine noun that begins with the letter a or -ha:

Un arma pesada, un hacha afilada.

a heavy weapon, a sharp axe.
