Indirect object pronouns replace a person, thing, or animal receiving an action indirectly.

Nacho pide un taxi a Ana Nacho le pide un taxi.

Nacho gets a cab for Ana Nacho gets her a cab.

Hablé con ellas ayer Les hablé ayer.

I talked to my sisters yesterday I talked to them yesterday.

Singular Plural
1ª persona Usted me responde nos respondes
2ª persona Ella te responde Él os responde
3ª persona Ellas le responden Nosotros les respondemos

Note: In some regions people use the direct object pronoun (lo, la) instead of the indirect object pronoun (le). This phenomenon is called laísmo (feminine) and loísmo (masculine). Examples:

He preguntado a mi mujer si quiere ir. LaLe he preguntado si quiere ir.

I asked my wife if she wanted to go I asked her if she wanted to go.

He preguntado a mi marido si quiere ir. LoLe he preguntado si quiere ir.

I asked my husband if he wanted to go I asked him if he wanted to go.
