The expression "as the song (or book or bible or person) says" introduces the quoting of a text or song. The verb "to quote" indicates the recitation or citation of a piece of text or speech. Icarus then goes on to recite a few lines of the song "I will survive" originally by Gloria Gaynor, and more recently covered by the underrated Sacramento band Cake.
