1 Fried: Fried potatoes are cooked in oil in a saucepan.
1 Roasted: Roasted potatoes (more commonly known as "roast potatoes") are cooked in the oven.
1 Mashed: Ok, mashed potatoes are cooked in water, but this doesn't turn them in to mash! They need to be beaten, just like you for getting the wrong answer!
2 Roasted: This is correct. "To roast" is to cook in the oven. Example: A turkey takes 4 hours to ROAST in the oven. Roasted potatoes are officially the most delicious food in the universe. Note: sometimes we just say "roast" potatoes (but they are still just as tasty!).

3 Fried: This is correct. Fried food is cooked in hot fat or oil (normally in a pan). Example: Colonel Fabien's FRIED chicken is my favorite French fast food. "Fried" comes from the verb "to fry" (fry/fried/have fried). Example: You need to FRY these potatoes until they become crisp on the outside and soft in the inside. Note: Fried potatoes are often just called "fries" (US) or "chips" (UK).
