This is a false statement. Brian writes that Lee Wang's father died "without appointing a successor to the Wang fortune." This means that no one was officially awarded Wang's "fortune": his companies, estate, money, and other assets. The terms "heir" and "successor" are synonymous in this context, and refer to the person or people who receive the "inheritance" upon someone's death. To "appoint (a successor)" is to officially and legally select a successor.

Brian then writes that "Three months later, Kai's body washed up on the shore of the Yangtze river", meaning that body of the company president was found by the side of the Yangtze river. Brian is suggesting that the Kai was probably murdered, although he doesn't say who the killer was. My guess is that Wang did it...
