attend to: Philip needs to "take care" of his medical concerns in the sense that he must "attend to them". The expression "to attend to a problem" is very similar to the idiom "to take care of a problem". Both expressions describe the action of fixing, or attempting to fix a problem or concern.
love and protect: Although in a different context, "to take care of (a dog)" could be defined as "to love and protect", this is not the case here. The expression "to take care of" has many meanings, including "protecting and attending to (a person)". However this isn't the case in this context.
dispose of: In another context, the expression "to take care of" might be synonymous with the phrasal verb "to dispose of", but this would most likely happen in a gangster film. For example "Fat Tony told me to take care of Uncle Rico, if you know what I mean".
remember: "To take care of (medical concerns)" does not share a similar meaning with the verb "to remember".
