To "scam" is the act of tricking or fooling a person out of their money or valuables. Jean is being "scammed" by Vladimir who is offering him a large amount of money, but in reality it is Vladimir who hopes to make money from Jean. Example: I was scammed out of 300 dollars by someone promising to make me rich.
