This is not the best choice here. "To clear off (a surface)" does not actually express that a surface will be "swept", but rather that it will be "cleaned", "tidied", or "arranged". "To sweep (the floor)" is to use a broom or a brush to clean the floor of dirt and dust.
"To clear off (a surface)" does not actually express that a surface will be "washed", but rather that it will be "cleaned", "tidied", or "arranged". "Washing" always involves water, unless it is "brainwashing", which involves manipulation and advertising executives, usually.
This is the best choice here. "To clear off" (a surface) means to arrange, clean or put it in order. In this case, Bob wants Horatio to "clean up" or "tidy", probably by removing the objects on the desk, before beginning the lessons.
The phrasal verb "to clear off" does not mean "to sit down". The two verbs are totally unrelated.

large: The adjective "huge" describes something very large or very big. Example: I made a huge mistake at work and got into big trouble. "Large" shares a similar meaning with "huge".
subtle: The adjective "subtle" indicates something so small or unobvious that it is difficult to detect. Example: The Mona Lisa has a subtle smile that makes many people curious. A "subtle" difference between two things is the opposite of a "huge" difference between two things. "Subtle" does not share a similar meaning with "huge".
clear: The adjective "clear" has several meanings, however a "clear" difference expresses an obvious or distinct difference. Example: The difference between the two opposing politicians was clear. "Clear" can also describe something transparent or free from obstacles.
slight: The adjective "slight" describes something is small or minor. Example: I had a slight headache when I woke up but it went away very quickly.

1 shade: The term "shade" is a synonym of "hue" or "tint" or "type of color". A "shade (of a color)" is a variation of a color based on how light or dark it is (the amount of white or black mixed into it). Example: I think we need to paint the bedroom a lighter shade of blue.
2 dark: When describing a "shade" of a color, we use the terms "dark" and "light" to describe the comparative darkness (or lightness). In the dialogue, Bruno describes a "dark blue circle". This means that the blue of the circle has lots of black mixed into it, making it appear dark. Another example: Bruno has beautiful DARK brown hair.
3 light: As mentioned above, the terms "light" and "dark" are placed before colors to indicate their comparative darkness. In the dialogue, Bruno could have said, "light blue circle" if the circle had more white mixed into it. We also use "light" when describing hair. Example: Icarus has lovely light gray hair.
