What is a "commute"?
A chauffeur is a person hired to drive a car. Trey is not referring to a chauffeur when he talks about his "commute".
The term "commute" is the trip made by a "commuter", back and forth, to and from work. Example: My commute is terrible because it takes me two hours to get to work, and even longer to get home. A commute can refer to a trip using any type of transportation: car, bus, train, etcetera. Note that there is a related verb: "to commute (to work)".
"Public transportation" is a network of buses, trams, trains etc. used by the people of an urban area. Someone can use public transportation for their commute, but Trey is not referring to public transportation when he talks about his "commute". The two terms are not synonymous. A public transportation system is the means of traveling to and from work, and a "commute" is the trip itself.
An ambulance is an emergency vehicle which transports injured people to a hospital. Example: When we heard the ambulance, we stopped our car to let them pass. An "ambulance" is unrelated to the term "commute".
