1 gold: "Gold" is the correct answer. The medal for an Olympic champion is made of the metal "gold". Winners of each event receive a gold medal.
2 silver: "Silver" is the correct answer. The medal for an Olympic champion is made of the metal "silver". The competitor that finishes second receives a silver medal. Other things commonly made from silver: knives and forks, coins, jewelry.
3 second: "Second" is the correct choice. The silver medal is awarded to the second place finisher in Olympic events. The adjective "second" corresponds to the number 2. 1 = first, 2= second 3 = third.
4 third: "Third" is the correct choice. The bronze medal is awarded to the third place finisher in Olympic events. The adjective "third" corresponds to the number 3. 1 = first, 2= second 3 = third.

1 silver: A "silver" medal is awarded to the second place finisher of contests such as the Olympic Games. Other things commonly made from silver: knives and forks, coins, jewelry. Note, the person who comes second in a contest is sometimes called the "runner-up".
2 bronze: Bronze is an alloy (or combination) of copper and tin and sometimes other elements. Bronze medals were introduced in the 1904 Olympic Games in St.Louis, Missouri. Before this, medals were only awarded to first and second places!
