1 merit my fee: This is correct. The idiom "worth every penny" implies that paying the (high) price of something is merited. In Bethany's case, her "fee" or "charge" is very high as she is a lawyer, but she is confident that she will get positive results. As a noun, "worth" is synonymous with "value" (but not necessarily with "price"), for example: My wedding ring is worth lots of money, but its sentimental worth is far more valuable to me.
1 charge a lot: This is not the meaning of the idiom "worth every penny". Although she implies that she will cost a lot, the meaning of this idiom is that she merits spending a large sum for her services.
1 collect rare coins: This is not the meaning of the idiom "worth every penny". Bethany is not and never has been a numismatic (someone who collects rare coins, incidentally).
1 am ready to work for small cases: This is not the meaning of the idiom "worth every penny". Bethany does not suggest that she is ready to work for small cases, or that she will never decline even the smallest job.
2 speak frankly: This is correct. "To lay it on the line (for someone)" is to speak "directly" or "frankly". Example: I don't have a lot of time, so I'm going to lay it on the line, I'm a man. Warbuckle is signalling to Bethany that he wants to get straight to the point and tell her, in frank terms, the nature of his problem. "To lay" shares a similar meaning with "place" here, for example: I laid the flower on the coffin.
2 risk my reputation: This is incorrect. This idiom shouldn't be confused with "to lay (something) on the line" which means to expose to risk, for example: I laid my job on the line when I asked for a pay rise.
2 try and stay calm: This is incorrect. The idiom "to lay it on the line" does not mean that Warbuckle wants to try and stay calm.
2 explain the situation clearly: This is incorrect. The idiom "to lay it on the line" is unrelated to explaining a situation in a clear manner, but to give the required information in a direct or "frank" manner.
3 stays calm and controls his emotions: This is correct. The expression "(To be) as cool as a cucumber" is to be calm under pressure and not to show emotions. When Warbuckle says that Bruno is as "cool as a cucumber" he is describing Bruno's ability to handle pressure and not get into trouble.
3 is cold and heartless: This is incorrect. Although "cool" is similar in meaning with "cold", if someone is "as cool as a cucumber" it doesn't mean that they are cold and have no heart.
3 goes well with tomato and feta in a salad: You're wrong, but who cares! Much like cucumber, Bruno is best eaten thinly sliced and served with tomato and cubed fresh feta cheese. A few drops of olive oil is an added bonus.
3 wears trendy clothes: This is incorrect. If someone is "as cool as a cucumber" it doesn't mean that they are "cool" as in "trendy". Bruno does evidently wear trendy (or fashionable) clothes, but this, unfortunately, is not the point.
