定义

to lie (down): 躺（下） verb
I was lying on the lawn. 我躺在草坪上
注意不要与to lay（something down）混淆，后者意为"放置"（某物）。
I lie down on the floor. 我躺在地板上。
I lay this book on the table. 我把这本书放在桌子上。
注意以上两个动词的过去式与完成式：
* to lie / I lay / I have lain
* to lay / I laid / I have laid
to lie prostrate: 俯卧 idiom
to lie face down: 趴着 idiom
  • "Ask subject to sit or lie comfortably."
  • "The ones with the naked girls lying on bottles of perfume."
  • "Philip : I'd say you were lying."
  • "A lying idiot!"
  • "Preparation: Please be naked, lying face down on your desk when I arrive."
  • "Bruno Delavigne was found lying dead by his desk in a pool of blood."
  • "You're not just going to leave that lyin' here, are you?"
  • "Then we turned and shook as we had a look in the room where the dead men lay"
  • "When he awoke, Bruno was lying in a hospital bed."
