Although the term "view" can refer to what is seen by the eye, the expression "mixed views" actually describes a series of opinions on a given subject.
Although a "view (from a building, from a bridge)" can refer to a vista or a point from which land, ocean, parks (etc) can be seen (usually from an elevated position), the expression "mixed views" actually describes a series of opinions on a given subject. If we wanted to express that we can see a variety of different buildings, we might say that the Manhattan skyline provides a view of many different buildings. To comment on the quality of the view, we might say the skyline has a "decent" or "okay" view of the buildings.
If people have "mixed views" on a topic or subject, it means that they have different or even conflicting opinions about it. People may have mixed views about an issue such as genetic engineering because of the moral aspects of it.
If people have "mixed views" on a topic or subject, it means that they have different or even conflicting opinions about it. In the example, scientists can't agree on how the universe will end: some think the universe will keep on expanding; some think the universe will collapse in a "big crunch"; some scientists don't agree with either of these ideas! They have MIXED VIEWS!
