Generally grocery stores sell fruits and vegetables, however the term has come to apply to supermarkets as well, which sell meats, fruits vegetables and household items. Note: small grocery stores are often referred to as 'corner stores' (US) or 'corner shops' (UK). Zucchini (known as a 'courgette' in the UK) is a type of long, green vegetable (not a cucumber).

2 hammer: A "hammer" is a tool used for driving "nails" into various surfaces such as wood, metal or concrete. The head of a hammer is generally a flat metal surface on one side, with a design meant to remove nails on the reverse side. In this dialogue, Dr. Loblaw requests a hammer from the nurse for his operation on Kevin.
3 nail: "Nails" are thin, cylindrical pieces of metal with sharpened ends on one side and a flat head on the other. They are driven or beaten into surfaces such as wood or metal with "hammers", a tool used by Dr. Loblaw during this operation.
4 scalpel: A "scalpel" consists of a thin, cylindrical shaft with a sharp blade at one end. These tools are often used by doctors performing precise surgical procedures. In this dialogue, Dr. Loblaw requests a scalpel from the nurse for Kevin's operation.
5 tools: "Tools" are instruments generally used for the repair or construction of objects such as furniture (among many other uses). A "tool" is also a general term for any type of instrument which serves a specific purpose, for example: the tools of a writer are pen and paper. Although this term wasn't used in the dialogue, it could replace Dr. Loblaw's term "instruments". Furthermore, all of Dr. Loblaw's requests in this scene are "tools": a hammer, a scalpel, a flame, etc.
