1 desk: A "desk" is a common piece of furniture on which people work. It is generally a flat surface made of wood or metal with four legs, a lot like a "table"!
2 floor: A "floor" describes the bottom surface within a home or building. Icarus complains that papers which were once on his desk, are now on the "floor".
3 neat: The adjective "neat" describes something orderly, clean or organized. Icarus describes a neat pile of letters on his desk before Philip and Samantha made a mess in his office.
4 mess: A "mess" is a state of disorder or untidiness, for example: I'm a very messy person, I always leave my bedroom in a mess. Icarus is upset because his normally organized office has become "messy" or "a mess".
