In English, the verb "to pose" isn't used to describe putting an object down on a surface. The verb can describe physical movement but in a different context, generally related to one's posture or body position.

This is one of the most common uses of the verb "to pose" in English. "To pose (a question)" carries the same meaning as "to introduce" or to formulate'.
If something "poses a threat" then it presents or represents a danger. This is the same use of the verb as in the conversation. Bruno tells Donna that the Delavigne staff will be (or present) a challenge for her skills, and that they are very needy people as well!
