练习 1
Time to fill in the gaps with useful expressions from the dialogue. You may have to change the words (for example the tense of a verb) for them to fit correctly in the sentences.

This means to use jointly: "Children should be taught how to their possessions or they can become very selfish in later life."

This means "advancement" or "improvement": "I haven't made much with my diet. I had two ice creams for desert at lunchtime."

This is a slang term for "friend" or "companion": "I have been his golf for a while now. He always wins, so I don't want to play anymore."

Time to fill in the gaps with useful expressions from the dialogue. You may have to change the words (for example the tense of a verb) for them to fit correctly in the sentences.

This means to use jointly: "Children should be taught how to share 1 their possessions or they can become very selfish in later life."

This means "advancement" or "improvement": "I haven't made much progress 2 with my diet. I had two ice creams for desert at lunchtime."

This is a slang term for "friend" or "companion": "I have been his golf buddy 3 for a while now. He always wins, so I don't want to play anymore."
1 share: This is the right answer. To "share" is to "divide" or to "use in equal measures". Example: "I share my dinner with my cat every night. He loves eating human food with me".
2 progress: This is the term we were looking for. "Progress" means "development", "improvement", or "change for the better". Example: "I have been making progress with this jigsaw puzzle: I only need to place six more pieces".
3 buddy: This is the right answer. A "buddy" is a "friend" or "mate". It is often used in conjunction with another noun, for example a "gym buddy", a "play buddy" or a "work buddy" is someone you go to the gym with, someone you play with, or someone you work with.
