练习 1
"It's good to show your face at these events...".
To show your face at an event is to:
To show your face at an event is to:
"It's good to show your face at these events...".
To show your face at an event is to:
To show your face at an event is to:
This is incorrect. "To confirm one's presence" is to tell a host that you will be present at their event, often by sending them a letter or "RSVP". This does not mean the same thing as "to show one's face", which describes actually attending the event, not just saying that you will attend.
This is not the best choice here. To "make a speech" is to talk publicly, in front of an audience. This is unrelated to showing one's face.
This is the correct answer. "To show your face" means to "attend" or to "go to an event". For example "My husband doesn't want to go to his secretary's leaving party, but I've told him that he has to show his face, even if it's only for 10 minutes."
This is incorrect. To "make a big entrance" is to impress people with the way you enter a room. This does not define "to show one's face".
