It is slightly smaller than a prawn and is used in dishes all over the world. Note that shrimp has an irregular plural form: one shrimp, two shrimp. Shrimp cocktail is an appetizer (very popular in the UK during the 1980s) that is often served at parties and buffets. It is not an alcoholic drink, but is made as a sauce (or "dip") for raw vegetables or biscuits.
