This is a right choice. A "side effect" can mean any adverse and unwanted secondary effects. However it does not always have to be negative, some "side-effects" can be desirable! For example: "One of the positive side effects of global warming would be lower heating costs".
This is incorrect. The server at McDoodles would give you a strange look if you asked for a side effect of fries! It would be better to ask for a "side order" of fries! A "side order" is a dish that is served with, but is subordinate to, a main course.
This is not a right choice. Perhaps you meant "sound effect"? A "sound effect" is any sound, other than music or speech, that is used to enhance a dramatic presentation such as film or radio program. In the evening I often relax by listening to sound effects CDs. My favourite sounds are "storm" closely followed by "creaking door". And you?
This is correct. A "side effect" is often used in medicine to describe a secondary effect (usually undesirable) of a drug or therapy. In the dialogue, Donna is concerned that using the Mindmelt unit on patients might have a negative "side effect" such as turning people's brains into jelly!
This is a wrong choice. It is unusual to check a contract for side effects. It would be more likely to search for hidden clauses or "small print".
