Ever vs never
Ever si usa nelle frasi negative, per esprimere un dubbio, o nelle frasi intrrogative. È il contrario di always:
Don't ever talk to me like that! Non parlarmi mai in quel modo!
If you ever see him, tell him he still owes me money. Se mai dovessi vederlo, digli che mi deve ancora dei soldi.
Have you ever heard of Flint Westwood? Hai mai sentito parlare di Flint Westwood?
Never e ever hanno lo stesso significato ma si usano in modo diverso. Never significa 'in nessun momento' ed è un termine negativo che si usa nelle costruzioni affermative (per evitare la doppia negazione). Ever significa 'in un momento qualunque' e non può essere usato nelle frasi affermative.
I never want to see this boy in your bedroom again.
I don't ever want to see this boy in your bedroom again.

Ever si usa frequentemente dopo i superlativi o gli aggettivi restrittivi come only, first:
