Complete the following sentences with the most appropriate term or phrase.

My grandmother is certain 1 that she was born on another planet. Her boyfriend believes her, though he is apt to 2 believe anything which he finds exciting. Her brother, who is more cynical, is apt to 3 ruin the magic one day by revealing that she was born in Doncaster.
1 certain: "Certain" is a synonym of "sure": the speaker's grandmother is very confident, or knows, that she was born on another planet. Another example: "-Are you sure that you gave Mike a spare key? -Yes, I'm absolutely certain".
1 apt: A person cannot "be apt that…", but they can "be apt to (do something)". For example: "Ramesh is apt to lose concentration if he hasn't slept well". We can also say that a particular action "is apt", for example: "I thought it was very apt that she mentioned the earthquake in her speech" (it was suitable, fitting or pertinent).
1 likely: This sentence doesn't make grammatical sense. We could say either "My grandmother is likely to have been born on another planet" or "It is likely that my grandmother was born on another planet".
2 apt to: The boyfriend "is apt to" believe anything that he finds exciting: this is a habit of his which the speaker views negatively. "To be apt to" refers to a bad habit or to a risk. For example: "My uncle is apt to change the subject as soon as it becomes slightly uncomfortable".
2 crazy to: We would not use "to be crazy to" in this way, referring to a regular action which someone does. We are more likely to use this phrase to refer to a specific action, for example: "He's crazy to believe what his mother told him about the inheritance!" (He shouldn't believe it). Of course, we could also say, very simply, "He's crazy!" (He's mad, he's insane).
2 always: This sentence is grammatically incorrect. We could say "He always believes anything which he finds exciting".
3 apt to: The brother "is apt to ruin the magic", meaning that there is a risk that he will ruin the magic; it is likely that he will ruin the magic, and the speaker sees this as negative in some way. "To be apt to" expresses a risk or a bad habit, for example: "You are apt to become very frustrated if you keep trying to change your grandfather's political views".
3 about to: It doesn't make sense to use the phrase "about to" in the same sentence as the term "one day" (which refers to an unspecified day in the future). If someone is about to do something, then they will do it very soon, not far in the future. For example: "Turn the TV on! The prime minister is about to make a speech!".
3 certainly to: We cannot use the words "certainly" and "to" together. We could say "he is certain to ruin the magic" or "he will certainly ruin the magic".
