1 habits: A 'habit' is a pattern of behaviour that is often acquired through repetition, for example: After smoking two packets of cigarettes I acquired a smoking habit. 3 surveyed: To 'survey (a group of people)' is to collect the group's opinions, often about things like political views or their attitude to new products. In the text we read that 'over 5,000 males were surveyed by Smell Solutions about their fragrance buying habits' meaning that a group of 5,000 males responded to Smell Solutions market research group and gave them their opinions about buying perfumes. Note that one can also 'take' or 'conduct' a survey.
