in: We always use IN to indicate position within land-areas such as towns, counties, states, countries, and continents. Examples: I live in Africa; I was born in Wales; I used to live in New York.
people: The "term" people is not usually plural. When we are talking about "people in general", like the people you meet on holiday, "people" is always singular. We only say "peoples" when we are talking about a nation or "group" of people. Example: The Spanish and Portuguese are two very different peoples.
to: When "difficult" is followed by a verb, it is always in the infinitive form. Examples: It is difficult TO DO this exercise; It is difficult TO SPEAK Chinese; It is difficult TO EAT an elephant.
many: "War" is a countable noun: it can be used with an article (A war) and also has a plural form (There were six WARS in Asia last year). We use MANY with countable nouns like "war". The combination "so many (wars)" is used to emphasize that there have been a lot of wars between England and other countries. We're still friends though, right?
am going: "Tomorrow I am going on a train" is the present continuous tense. We usually use the present continuous for things that are happening now (You ARE LOOKING at your computer screen). However, we also use the present continuous for fixed arrangements in the future. Example: I'm playing football at the weekend.
telling: We ALWAYS use the gerund (ING form) after the expression "to look forward to". "To look forward to" something means to anticipate with eagerness or pleasure. Examples: I look forward to MEETING you; I'm looking forward to SEEING my family at Christmas; I have been looking forward to DRINKING a beer all day.
