J'aime Paris (I like Paris). The je (I) form of most verbs that end in -er in the infinitive (like aimer, “to like”) generally ends in -e. Other examples: parler (to speak) → je parle (I speak); chanter (to sing) → je chante (I sing). Note that the -er at the end of an infinitive verb is pronounced the same as é: .
Tu aimes Paris (you like Paris), with an -s on the end, as we find with almost every tu (you) verb form in French. Examples: jouer (to play) → tu joues (you play); écouter (to listen) → tu écoutes (you listen). Note that the letters -es at the end of a word are totally silent. You don't pronounce them at all!
Il aime Paris (He likes Paris) / elle aime Paris (she likes Paris). Almost every -er verb (like aimer, “to like”) has an il/elle (he/she) form ending in -e. Examples: regarder (to look) → il regarde (he looks); marcher (to walk) → elle marche (she walks). Note that -e (like -es) is silent, which means that aime and aimes are pronounced exactly the same!
