El pasado compuesto con avoir
El passé composé (pasado compuesto) se usa para hablar de eventos o acciones ocurridos en el pasado.
Ayer, comí en un restaurante.
El pasado compuesto de la mayoría de los verbos se forma con avoir (tener/haber) en presente avoir, présent + el participio pasado del verbo principal.
El participio pasado de los verbos terminados en -er acaba generalmente en -é . Para los demás verbos, termina a menudo en -i o en -u.
terminar → nosotros hemos terminado
La forma negativa se construye así: sujeto + n' + avoir (en presente) + pas + participio pasado.
Nota: Para ciertos verbos como venir (venir), aller (ir), partir (marcharse), etc., el pasado compuesto se forma con être (ser/estar) en presente + participio pasado.
Roger fue a Saint-Tropez.

Change these sentences from the present tense to the perfect tense by dragging and dropping the words into the blanks. Not all the words are used! Click on “Help me” if you are finding it difficult.
Nous habitons à Tunis. → Nous avons habité 1 à Tunis.
Maria commande un café. → Maria a commandé 2 un café.
Anna n'aime pas ce film. →Anna n'a pas aimé 3 ce film.
Nous habitons à Tunis → Nous avons habité à Tunis (we live in Tunis → we lived in Tunis) habiter, passé composé. As is the case for most verbs, we form the perfect tense of habiter (to live) using the present tense form of avoir (here: avons). Other examples: les clients ont mangé du chocolat (the customers ate chocolate); Roger a fait un gâteau (Roger made a cake).
Maria commande un café. → Maria a commandé un café (Maria orders a coffee. → Maria ordered a coffee, Maria has ordered a coffee) commander, passé composé. The past participle of verbs ending in -er such as commander (to order), parler (to speak), aimer (to love) etc., usually ends in -é. Examples: vous avez cherché du travail ? (have you looked for work?); j'ai regardé une vidéo (I watched a video).
Anna n'aime pas ce film. → Anna n'a pas aimé ce film (Anna doesn't like this movie. → Anna didn't like this movie) aimer, passé composé. The negative form of the perfect tense is constructed as follows: n' + avoir (here, a) + pas + past participle (here: aimé). Example: je n'ai pas mangé depuis hier (I haven't eaten since yesterday).
