Übung 2
Mrs Lee says to Kevin, "They are all well taken care of."
What does she mean by this?

Mrs Lee says to Kevin, "They are all well taken care of."
What does she mean by this?
"To be well taken care of" means "well provided for" or "supported". We can say, for example: "Good parents make sure that their children are well taken care of". It often carries the financial implication of being compensated, however in this case it is fair to assume that Mrs Lee is also referring to Kevin's concern in this scene: the working conditions at the factory.
This is not the best choice here. Although Mrs Lee makes a reference to the workers sleeping at the factory, "to be well taken care of" does not necessarily mean that they are being housed or "sheltered". "Shelter" refers to "protection" or "refuge".
To be "well taken care of" means to be "provided for" or "attended to". This idea doesn't express that the money or wages for the workers is divided "evenly" or "equally" among them.
Although a worker who is "well taken care of" implies that their wages or salaries are well considered, "they" here refers to the workers.
