Rearrange the letters to find words used in the conversation! Use the hints to help you.

Example: thole --> hotel

I'm [not done] exhausted 1 (I'm very tired)
a comfortable [not done] mattress 2 (a bed has one of these!)
I have a reservation [not done] under the name 3 "Smith" (I have made a reservation using the name "Smith")
1 exhausted: "Exhausted" means to be very tired. "To exhaust" literally means "to use up" or "to consume completely". Example: We have EXHAUSTED our supply of oil. Therefore, if someone is exhausted, they have used up all their energy and are very tired - just like Philip in the conversation: "I'm exhausted and would really like to get some sleep"!
2 mattress: If something is "comfortable" it provides "comfort" and makes you feel at ease physically. Example: This chair is so COMFORTABLE that I often fall asleep in it. A "mattress" is a large pad that is placed on a bed to provide support when people are sleeping. The term "comfortable mattress" is therefore a common word combination. In the conversation, the receptionist tries to make a joke by saying "all our beds are very comfortable - some of them even have mattresses!"
3 under the name: To have a reservation "under the name" (of Mr X) means that you have booked a hotel room using the name (Mr X) . At the beginning of the conversation, Philip says, "Good evening, I booked a room for tonight under the name "Cheeter"". This is a nice way of introducing both your name and the fact that you have a hotel room reserved.

Change the adjectives in the blanks into the comparative form.

Example: Bruno owns (nice) shoes than Bob = Bruno owns nicer shoes than Bob.

Horatio is than most perfumers.

Icarus is than many accountants.

Luna is with Kevin than Bob.

Kevin is with his money than the World Bank.

The Kalvin Krime Corporation is to its employees than the Delavigne Corporation.

Change the adjectives in the blanks into the comparative form.

Example: Bruno owns (nice) shoes than Bob = Bruno owns nicer shoes than Bob.

Horatio is [not done] stranger 1 than most perfumers.

Icarus is [not done] more efficient 2 than many accountants.

Luna is [not done] more comfortable 3 with Kevin than Bob.

Kevin is [not done] more careful 4 with his money than the World Bank.

The Kalvin Krime Corporation is [not done] crueler 5 to its employees than the Delavigne Corporation.
1 stranger: 'Stranger' is the comparative form of the adjective 'strange'. With few exceptions, the comparative form of short adjectives (of one or two syllables) is formed by adding 'er' to the adjective (in this case just 'r' is necessary). Note that there are exceptions to this rule, and that some adjectives have two comparative forms: 'ugly' can change to either 'uglier' or 'more ugly' in the comparative form, even though it is short.
2 more efficient: 'Efficient' is a long (polysyllabic) adjective, so it requires 'more' or 'less' in the comparative form. 'Less efficient' and 'more efficient' are both acceptable answers here.
3 more comfortable: 'Comfortable' has more than one syllable, and so it takes 'more' or 'less' in the comparative form. 'Less comfortable' and 'more comfortable' are both acceptable answers here.
4 more careful: 'Careful' is a long (polysyllabic) adjective, and so it requires the prefix 'more' in the comparative form. 'Less careful' and 'more careful' are both acceptable answers here.
5 crueler: 'Crueller' is the comparative form of the adjective 'cruel'. Generally, we create the comparative form of short adjectives (of one or two syllables) by adding 'er' to them. Note: 'Crueler' can also be spelt with two 'l's (crueller).

"I'm sure we can sort this out" --> I'm sure we can .

"Sorry about any inconvenience caused" --> .
The following phrases used in the dialogue could be expressed differently. Choose the appropriate alternative!

"I'm sure we can sort this out" --> I'm sure we can resolve this problem 1.

"Sorry about any inconvenience caused" --> Sorry to have caused you trouble 2.
1 resolve this problem: This is the right answer here. "To sort out" is a phrasal verb meaning to resolve a problem or find a solution to a problem. It can also mean to organise or to put things into order. For example: "There were 5849 emails in my inbox when I came back from holiday. It took me three days to sort them out!"
1 send you another product: This is not the correct answer. "To send" does not mean "to sort out". Edward talks about sending Mrs Blunt more perfume, but "to send" does not share a similar meaning with "to sort out".
1 give you back your money: This is not the correct answer. To "give back" means to "return". It does not share a similar meaning with "to sort something out".
2 Sorry to have caused you trouble : This is the best choice. When we cause someone inconvenience, we trouble, annoy, or bother them. This is a useful expression in a business context, especially if you deal with customers! Example: "We have now fixed this technical problem, and would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused".
2 Sorry for making you uncomfortable: This is not the correct answer. To be uncomfortable means that you are not at ease in a situation physically or mentally.
2 Sorry for the quality of our products: This is not the correct answer. Edward is not apologising for the products.
