Penser (imparfait suivi par infinitif)

je pensais (avoir réussi mon examen) : I thought (I had passed my exam)conjugaison

After penser, it is possible to use either a verb in the infinitive, or que followed by a conjugated verb. There is no difference of meaning between the two. Hence, we could say Je pensais que j’avais réussi mon examen without any change in meaning (compared with Je pensais avoir réussi mon examen).
