Verbs ending in -eler or -eter in the conditional present

In the conditional present, most verbs ending in -eler (such as épeler) or -eter (such as feuilleter) have two accepted conjugations:

Note: The spelling with a double consonant (-elle or -ette) is the traditional one; the spelling with a single consonant and grave accent (-èle or -ète) is the new one introduced by the réforme de l’othographe (the change to the spelling rules).
Exceptions:
•  The verbs appeler, jeter and other verbs derived from them are only spelled with a double consonant (elle ou ette).
•  The verbs geler, acheter and other verbs derived from them are only spelled with a single consonant and grave accent (èle or ète).
