Forming the plural of nouns
To form the plural of most nouns in English, we simply add an -s to the end of the singular form.
the cat → the cats
a book → some books
a house → many houses
Words that end in -s, -sh, -ch or -x form the plural by adding -es.
a bus → some buses
a wish → my best wishes
the match → all the matches
a tax → so many taxes
Words that end in a consonant + -y change to -ies in the plural.
a baby → all my babies
the city → two cities
