Numbers from 100 to 1000

Here is how we pronounce large numbers in English:


100 → one hundred
200 → two hundred
300 → three hundred

400 → four hundred

500 → five hundred


600 → six hundred
700 → seven hundred

800 → eight hundred
900 → nine hundred
1000 → one thousand

To form numbers between them, follow the structure: hundred + (and) + tens + units

124 → one hundred (and) twenty-four

750 → seven hundred (and) fifty

Note: and is commonly used in British English, but not in American English.

342 → three hundred and forty-two (UK)
three hundred forty two (US)

2 350:

350 (three hundred and fifty) is the number you heard in this clip. Note: and is not used in American English. 

3 1000:

1000 (one thousand) is what you heard here.

2 200:

You heard 200 (two hundred) . Note: when you are writing a specific number, hundred is always singular (without an ‑s on the end).

3 560:

You heard 560 (five hundred and sixty) .
