To call someone names is a non-vulgar expression which means "to insult someone". It is an expression particularly used by children:
He was calling me names, so I started crying and the teacher gave him detention.
  • "I was very rude and insulting to you, and in particular, I am sorry for calling you a C*%!"
  • "Horatio : You call me names?"
  • "August 26th : I thought I heard server at station 12 calling me names."
