Candor is "honesty".
Candor is "honesty".
honesty: "Candor" is honesty or openness. Bruno is thanking Icarus for his honesty. Note that "candor" doesn't refer to the note or email which Icarus sent, but rather the honesty he displays within the note.
an enormous bird with a large wingspan and a big beak: Icarus doesn't own a condor, one of the largest and most rare birds in the sky. The condor is from the vulture family, and is the largest flying land bird in the western hemisphere (the albatross is the largest sea bird). There are two species of condor: the California Condor and the South American Condor (or Andean Condor). The condor breeds at an elevation of 3000-5000 meters! To learn more about the amazing condor, contact the zoo or aviary nearest to you.
a note: "Candor" doesn't refer to a note, an email or any type of correspondence. Bruno is thanking Icarus for the honesty he displays within the note he sent.
franchise: In English, "franchise" does not refer to "honesty". The term is used as a noun to denote "a business establishment" or as a verb to indicate "the act of giving certain rights to a business". "A franchise" also refers to an independently-owned business (a restaurant for example) which uses the name of a parent company. For example, there are many McDonald's franchises all over the world which are privately owned but which pay the McDonald's company for the right to use their name, products and recipes. In English, "franchise" is not a synonym for "candor".
an effort: Bruno is not thanking Icarus for his efforts when he says that he appreciates his "candor". "Candor" refers to honesty, not efforts.
