American history doesn't count as a "landmark", which describes a moment, event, or monument of historical or visual importance.
The discovery of electricity is a good example of a landmark. While a landmark often refers to a physical location or monument (a bridge, a statue) it can also refer to an event of historical significance. Other historical "landmarks" or "landmark moments" might include the discovery of fire, the invention of the printing press, the foundation of the United Nations etc.
Michael Jackson, the person, doesn't count as a "landmark", which describes a moment, event, or monument of historical or visual importance. However, we might say that Jackson's music video "Thriller" was a landmark achievement.
A bus tour doesn't count as a "landmark", which describes a moment, event, or monument of historical or visual importance.
The "Eiffel Tower" is a good example of a "landmark", which refers to a historic or significant monument or location. Other famous landmarks include the Golden Gate Bridge, Big Ben, the Taj Mahal etc. Note that a landmark can also be a point of reference or orientation. Example: Meet me at the flag near the beach, it's a landmark.
