Let's take a look at some initials!

Let's take a look at some initials!

The initials GPA stand for --> Grade 1 Point 2 Average 3

In the USA, a Master of Science is known as an M.S. 4.

In the UK, a Master of Science is known as an M.Sc. 5.
1 Grade: "Grade" is the correct word here. A "grade" in a subject is a "score" or a "mark". Example: "I get good grades in English and terrible grades in maths". A "Grade Point Average" is the average of a student's grades or marks, and is expressed as a number. Usually, an A-grade is awarded 4 points, a B-grade 3 points, etc. A student with four B-grades and four C-grades would have a GPA of 2.5.
1 Graduate: A "graduate" is someone who has left university with a qualification. To "graduate" is to successfully leave university with a qualification. This is not the origin of the first letter in "GPA".
1 Gross: The term "gross" means "before tax" in a financial context, or "disgusting" in slang. It is not the right choice here.
1 Garage: A "garage" is a place to park a car, or a business which repairs cars. Susie does not know what the initials "GPA" stand for either, and asks if it is "a motoring term". A "motoring term" is something related to cars or other vehicles. However, Bruno says "not at all. GPA stands for Grade Point Average". It is therefore unrelated to "garages" or cars.
2 Point: "Point" is the correct term. In the American education system, grades are often assigned "points" or "numbers". Usually, an A-grade is awarded 4 points, a B-grade 3 points, etc. A student with five A-grades and one B-grade would have a GPA of 3.8.
2 Pass: To "pass" an exam is to succeed in it: to get a good enough score or mark. This is not what the "P" in "GPA" stands for.
2 Parking: "To park a car" is to stop it in a safe place, like a "garage" or "parking lot". Susie does not know what the initials "GPA" stand for either, and asks if it is "a motoring term". A "motoring term" is something related to cars or other vehicles. However, Bruno says "not at all. GPA stands for Grade Point Average". It is therefore unrelated to "parking" or cars.
2 Party: A "party" is a gathering of people, usually in the evening, and usually to celebrate something such as a birthday. This is not what the "P" in "GPA" stands for.
3 Average: The "A" in "GPA" stands for "Average". A student's GPA is the "average" or "mean" of all their grades, converted into numbers. To calculate the "average" or "mean" of three numbers, add them together and then divide them by how ever many numbers you started with!
3 Assessment: An "assessment" is a "test" or "examination". This term does not make up part of "Grade Point Average" or "GPA".
3 Achievement: An "achievement" is an "accomplishment" or a "success". This term does not make up part of "Grade Point Average" or "GPA".
3 Automobiles: This is incorrect. Susie does not know what the initials "GPA" stand for either, and asks if it is "a motoring term". A "motoring term" is something related to cars or other vehicles. However, Bruno says "not at all. GPA stands for Grade Point Average". It is therefore unrelated to "automobiles" or cars.
4 M.S.: "M.S." is the right choice here. In the USA, the term "M.S." is used to describe postgraduate degrees in a scientific subject. For example, you could study for an M.S. in chemistry, physics, maths, etc. Note that a "B.S." in the USA is a "Bachelor of Science": an undergraduate, first degree in a scientific subject.
4 M.Sc.: This term is used in British English, not in American English.
5 M.Sc.: "M.Sc." is the better choice here. In the UK, this is the abbreviation used for a "Master of Science", which is a high-level, postgraduate degree in a scientific subject. You may also like to know that an undergraduate degree in a scientific subject is called a "B.Sc." in the UK.
5 M.S.: This term is used in American English, not in British English.
