If a building has been "demolished", it has been torn down and destroyed. This is not synonymous with "refurbished".
When an apartment or house has been "furnished" it has been equipped with furniture (tables, chairs, couches etc.) Rented apartments often come furnished, however this term is different than the term "renovated", found in the text.
The term "renovated" means "repaired and improved". This is synonymous with "refurbished".
A "renovated" apartment has been repaired or improved from its former state, the term isn't related to the act of "wiring the apartment for electricity".
