The verb asseoir in the present tense

The verb asseoir (to sit) or s'asseoir (to sit down) can be conjugated in the present in two different ways.
je m'assieds
tu t'assieds
il s'assied
nous nous asseyons
vous vous asseyez
ils s'asseyent
je m'assois
tu t'assois
il s'assoit
nous nous assoyons
vous vous assoyez
ils s'assoient
The two conjugations are accepted, but we use the first more frequently.
Je m'assieds pour lire mon journal. I'm sitting down to read my paper.
