Depuis 1968, (la lutte continue.) : Since 1968, (the fight has continued.)
Depuis means "since" when followed by a point in time, like a date or an event. When followed by a period of time, it means "for".
Depuis hier, je suis déprimée. I have been depressed since yesteday.
Mon chat ne me parle plus depuis 24 heures. My cat hasn't been talking to me for 24 hours.
To refer back to the time of a particular action (using a verb), we use depuis que:
Je suis triste depuis que tu es parti. I've been sad since you left.
