The verbs finire, capire and preferire in the present tense

The verbs finire (to finish), capire (to understand) and preferire (to prefer) are conjugated similarly to other -ire verbs, but with -isc- added before the standard endings:

Lui/lei finisce
Noi finiamo
Voi finite
Loro finiscono
Capire
Io capisco
Tu capisci
Lui/lei capisce
Noi capiamo
Voi capite
Loro capiscono
Preferire
Io preferisco
Tu preferisci
Lui/lei preferisce
Noi preferiamo
Voi preferite
Loro preferiscono

Other verbs that follow the same pattern include ruggire (to roar), pulire (to clean), costruire (to build), gradire (to like), agire (to act) and colpire (to hit).

Would you like a glass of water?

Pulisco la mia camera tutti i giorni. pulire, presente

I clean my bedroom every day.
