The prepositions gegen (against), um (around), für (for), ohne (without) and durch (through) always take the accusative. Akkusativ

Notes:
- The masculine singular article is the only one that changes in the accusative: der → den, ein → einen.

- Für (for), durch (through) and um (around) can be merged with the neuter article das (the) → fürs, durchs, ums.
