We form the numbers between 21 and 99 like this: single digit (1, 2, 3, etc.) + und (and) + the relevant ten (20, 30, 40 etc.).

22 = zwei (2) + und + zwanzig (20) = zweiundzwanzig

33 = drei (3) + und + dreißig (30) = dreiunddreißig

99 = neun (9) + und + neunzig (90) = neunundneunzig

Note: the ‑s of eins (1) is dropped.

81  = eins (1) + und + achtzig = einundachtzig
