L’adjectif verbal

L’adjectif verbal (the verbal adjective) is an adjective which is formed from a verb. It is formed like the present participle (ending in -ant).
Plier pliant
voler volant
parler parlant
courir courant

Unlike the present participle (ex: les oiseaux sachant parler sont rares birds that know how to speak are rare), the verbal adjective agrees with the noun in gender and number.
un tabouret pliant (masculine) une chaise pliante (feminine)
un tapis volant (masculine singular) des tapis volants (masculine plural)
une langue courante (feminine singular) des langues courantes (feminine plural)
