Verbal adjectives

L'adjectif verbal (the verbal adjective) is an adjective which is formed from a verb. It is formed like the present participle (ending in -ant).
Plier → pliant
voler → volant
parler → parlant
courir → courant
Unlike the present participle (ex: les oiseaux sachant parler sont rares birds that know how to speak are rare), the verbal adjective agrees with the noun in gender and number.

un tapis volant (masculin singulier)des tapis volants (masculin pluriel) un tapis volant (masculine singular) → des tapis volants (masculine plural)
