We use the conjunction o (or) to provide an option or alternative.

¿Compramos vino blanco o vino tinto?

Should we buy white wine or red wine?

La reunión será el jueves o el viernes a las nueve.

The meeting will be on Thursday or Friday at nine.

The o changes to u when the next word begins with an -o or -ho.

He comido siete u ocho tapas.

I've eaten seven or eight tapas.

¿Este cuadro va vertical u horizontal?

Does this painting go vertically or horizontally?
