-What is the president's rating in the polls? -Not very good: 60% of people have a bad view of the president.
ratings (television): audience figures, the number of people watching (television or a particular television program)
Note that "ratings" is always used in the plural form in this context.
- "Come to think of it, I'll move my rating up to 4 and three-quarter stars."
- "Anyway, I can honestly say that Mr. O'Leary has a productivity rating unlike any I've ever seen."
- "The TV network canceled "Horrible Crimes and Forensic Miracles" due to poor ratings."
